SATURDAY, JUNE 1, 2019 – THE GOTHEES
6:00 PM – MAIN STAGE
The Gothees are an entertaining and eclectic mix of performers-cum-musicians that formed for a one-off bit of fun, but somehow against all odds, better judgement and the advice of friends and family are now past their sell-by date as they hurtle toward the end of their second decade of existence. Their music may be best described as an unsettling mixture of ‘60s pop distilled with a hint of ‘80s influences topped with a slight pinch of the punk aesthetic.
The band’s latest release is a 7 track EP of all Monkees songs – 4 of the tracks were premiered on SiriusXM’s Little Stevens Underground Garage in early 2018 on Rodney Bingenheimer’s show.
Another interesting note – WQED in Pittsburgh contacted the band to record an all-new version of the Mister Rogers Neighborhood theme in their unique style. It premiered in October as part of the 50th anniversary celebration of the series. Clips of the band courtesy of WQED:

Having supported the likes of Mission of Burma, Kid Congo and The Pink Monkey Birds, Shonen Knife, Jeffrey Lewis, The Red Elvises, Los Straitjackets and more, The Gothees unique sound continues to delight, enchant and/or confuse with heaps of fuzz, theremins and zaniness in equal measure.
Their music can be found in the ether on iTunes, Amazon, Spotify and wherever else music resides in the digital realm. Physical copies can be found at your local indie record store and via the band.
British electronic group Ladytron are currently remixing two new Gothees tracks including the title track from their forthcoming LP “Candy Dreams Of Spacemen” to be released in late 2019.
